The rewards of Travel Copywriting were far too great.

And over time, I came to realize that Travel Copywriting is a very specific kind of copywriting.

Travel Copywriters have to be aware of industry nuances. Of unspoken rules about messaging. Of what travelers experience “on the ground.” Of a destination’s culture and heritage. Of so much more than a “generalist” copywriting course can possibly cover.

When I was a Copy Chief in the 2000s, I managed a staff of 12 writers for 4 different travel brands – and I traveled to a dozen countries as part of my work.

It was a dream job … and a life-changer.

Who is this for?

I’m a freelance copywriter. Can this writing course help me?

​Absolutely! The skills we teach and the inside knowledge we share will benefit any copywriter who wants to niche down to the travel industry. In fact, you’ll notice that we use the terms “company” and “client” interchangeably to refer to “who” you’ll be writing for. 

Do I have to be a traveler to be a Travel Copywriter?

​Not at all. I’ve worked closely with many Travel Copywriters who don’t even have a passport. The tools in this copywriting course – including a compilation of all the resources I use when I haven’t been to a destination – help you through.

Once I am a Travel Copywriter, will I do a lot of traveling?

It depends on the arrangements you have with your employer or client. Staff writers are more likely to travel for their company than freelance writers are for their clients.

I don’t have any Travel Copywriting samples. Don’t I need some to help me land a gig?

​It helps, sure. That’s why we’ve designed this course to help you create an interview-ready portfolio. You’ll apply what you learn in Your Dream Destination Workbook, and use that content to help you get that dream job.

How is a Travel Copywriter different from a Travel Writer?

​Travel WRITERS chronicle their experiences out in the world, warts and all. They make insightful or humorous or curmudgeonly cultural observations and tend to give equal weight to the inner personal journey. Travel COPYWRITERS sell travel experiences and destinations through copywriting. We tend to avoid the “warts and all” approach – because who would buy that? And we might merely suggest that a traveler might undergo an internal journey in as much as we sell the dream of travel.
